Emergy

Emergy (2008, 2010) is a human-powered interactive installation focusing on energy and water usage in an urban desert environment. Rowers/performers activate the installation by rowing the boat, generating electricity to power the LED backlit photos running along cascading walls. Initially created for the central Arizona area (Phoenix, March, 2008) the context, nonetheless, has relevance to the broader culture as well. Human resource consumption is contrasted with human expenditure, utilizing an embodied approach to understanding the connection between the two.  The project was exhibited in Las Vegas Dec 3, 2010-Feb 17, 2011 with new photos of the City of Las Vegas and Lad Mead.
